PORTAL-AUTO is a unique vehicle screening system designed for the inspection of illegal consignments inside vehicles (stationary or driving through).

Due to its mobility, if set up in a 20ft. container, PORTAL-AUTO is ideally suited for installation in ports, border crossings, city entrances, security sensitive areas such as government/commercial sites, military and law enforcement HQs/structures.; wheresoever is need for a high throughput of light vehicles to be inspected including cars, vans, minibuses and camping cars.

Portal-AUTO offers operators a quick and easy to use tool for detecting threats such as drugs, explosives, weapons, contraband, radioactive materials and smuggled goods.

The approach used in conducting the inspection is based on obtaining a shadow X-ray image of the inspected object internal contents. The system uses a fan-shaped beam of X-ray radiation, which, in combination with a multi-element U-shaped detector, achieves high penetrating power and performance over low radiation dose.

The system operates in a single energy mode with a representation of images in gradations of gray color or in a dual-energy mode with recognition of materials and density and composition color separation. The dual energy technology (optional) provides automatic color-coding of materials according to their effective atomic numbers.

The automated workstation(AWS) allows the operator to perform functions: control of the generator mode, archives storage of the inspected objects, enlargement of individual sections of the image up to 16 times, sharpening and contrasting of the entire image and its individual sections, measurement and selection of objects, separation of objects by their density.

The system can be located in a hangar or garage(minimum required dimensions: 12x4 m and a ceiling height of 3.5 m); at the open air (only for the model without a conveyorunit). Due to the low dose, additional measures to ensure radiation safety are not required in the room. For deployment in the field, the systemcan also be placed in a metal container and transported by truck.

The system can be integrated not only in a temperature controlled environment or solid built infrastructure but, uniquely, in a 20ft. container or a tent, and is intended to work 24/7. The system automatically inspects vehicles (without driver) placed on a vehicle moving system. Images are transmitted to the remote control room for further examination.  

The system can be equipped with radiation detection system (for example PSD-8), for automatic and simultaneous detection of the radioactive materialspresence.
